During the pandemic, Ryan Cayabyab revisited an old love in painting when he grew curious about acrylic as a medium. His re-encounter with brushes brought back memories of his teenage years when he joined - and won - the YMCA National Art Competition in Manila, as well as the rare times that he was able to do sketches and doodles in between music gigs.
Tunay na Ligaya is the first solo art exhibition of Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. The first leg of the exhibit ran at the Power Plant Mall from October 21 to November 5 while the second leg is ongoing until November 26, 2023 in Estancia Mall.
Tunay na Ligaya showcases seven (7) collections/series of art pieces.
The Maestro shares about his first forays into the visual arts, from painting with oils at 14 to sketching friends, and later doodling in pen and ink.
The Maestro’s journey into acrylic painting at the height of the pandemic was one driven by curiosity and delight. “I got hooked,” he shares here.
